This chicken coop was built to accommodate a large flock and for easy cleaning. Features: 18 Nesting boxes, 2 Man doors, 2 Chicken doors, Built on a trailer for flock mobility and management. Designed around the permaculture idea of paddock shift. Which means that you move the flock to an area (i.e. paddock) where you want the chickens to work. When they've eaten down and fertilized the area you move them to a new area. The large window creates a green house effect. In the summertime, the window faces north to avoid overheating. In the wintertime, the window faces south to help keep the chickens warm. The coop measures: 12' L x 6' 5 " W The roosting area measures: 12' L x 4' 6" W A lot of wood, hardware and time went into its construction. The floor is made out of 1" x 6" solid wood planks. The nesting box doors are solid poplar wood. It's tall enough to stand up in (I'm 6 foot). The two doors were made wide so that bedding can be raked out without a struggle. The ladders can fold-up out-of-the-way or can be removed. The roosting area was also designed to fold-up out-of-the-way so that you can clean or work in the coop. The chicken ramp on the back of the trailer folds up and locks into place. There isn't a ramp on the front because the chickens simply jump up on the tongue to get in and out. Ended up using 42 hinges.
