It's such a cold day today. I'm holding one of my very sweet Giant Whites very tight to keep her warm. She loves it but soon wants to go back to the flock. She likes me to pet her at night when they are all back in the coop.

This is my beloved cat, Charlie. He is now 16 years old. He loves the chick, at a distance. Walks around the run like he's watching over them. The chicks just stare at him wondering what he is. They get along fine, but I keep my eye out. Our run is completely fenced in including the top.

A first trip to the ash bath. Kind of dark, but there are four of them in the bath, obviously two are my giant white's, one is a batam hen, and the brown you see is a Rhode Island Red rolling around and throwing ash everywhere..

This is one of my bantum roosters. I realized I have two of them. I named this on Jack. He has just finished his morning treat of mash, warm water with bread. He has turned out to be quite the boss. He started crowing at 7 weeks. He is now 8 week.

My Beautiful Ladies

Pictures of my girls (and one rooster) from 2 days old to 6 weeks. They are loving their coop and are growing fast. They love warm water with mushed bread in the morning. We're able to hold them now and they respond to our voices.

We'll get better at taking these pictures. Need to get all four of my Bantams to pose together. Looks like we got the tails of two of them. All of my chicks are females except for the Bantams. Two of my Bantams are getting red combs and waddles are turning red. Does that mean they are my males? Also, do I need to get a rooster for the other ladies? I want to raise their chicks, but you can't have a Bantam have a chick with a Leghorn, etc., can you? You can tell this is our first time. I would most appreciate some advice in this area. Thanks, and we'll be back. Linda & Tom

Hi Everyone. I've not been on the site for a while. Had a small operation on my right hand and I'm typing with my left. What fun. My chicks have grown so much. Both of my roosters are learning to crow at 71/2 weeks. I wasn't sure what I was hearing at first. It's so cute.

My white giant hens are more beautiful than I expected. They look like a fresh snow ball, and their tail feathers look artificial they are so perfect and white. How they manage to stay clean, I'm not sure.
