Gizzard cut open to reveal contents
Gizzard contents. Note the stones and pieces of grit. They are swallowed by the bird to help with the grinding of the food. Now you can see why a grit supply is so very important.
Gizzard cleaned out. This is a very solid thing. The walls are solid muscle so that they have the power to grind the food up. The ridges are hard and leathery in texture. Yellow colour must be from the Gall bladder secretions.

Gall bladder contents. ( not quite all of it because I ended up wearing some of it when I cut it open!!)
Duodenum contents
Blood supply to the duodenum clearly visible. This is where most of the digestion occurs. The pancreas ( the flatter bit between the two main tubes) secretes enzymes to help digestion.
