the new chicken enclosure is made from an old tarp carport that fell down 9 years ago, and all the pipes have been piled up next to the garage, overgrown with weeds ever since...
I had to stabilize the swing perch, they did not like it moving that much, so you can see in the picture that there is a center post coming up thru the middle of the perch. the rest of the perches are suspended "looking" but are firmly attached to the hardware cloth and support beams where available...all in all there are 6 roosts between the dome and the two coops...
the Dome has been very successful! all the inhabitants are very happy and it has proved to be structurally sound... I've had to add some large pieces of flat rock along the edges of the inside, because the gang likes to dig, but I have an extra rock wall strangely placed in the middle of the back yard, been taking stone from there for a decade and there are thousands of rocks left to pick through, lots of really large ones too... placed them in the holes and covered them in dirt. they still bathe there, but at least they can't compromise their safety...
