I go out nightly to turn on the light and secure the pen. Have made it a routine to carry a .357 with shot shells. I have terminated more rats with the shot shells than with six traps COMBINED.
Funny thing is, the hens don't even flinch at the shots.

hahaha, freaking vermin, I would like to think that's all there was "1"
last spring I dealt with racoons getting in and and taking half my flock, 5 chickens and 2 ducks, in a weeks time we trapped and shot 22 racoons. it was my 2nd year with my flock! after that we battened down the hatches,I will be waiting for them mid April 2021 . my husband thinks I am nuts...I put a surveillance camera with them.
