Sorry guys but My blue cochin was feeling jumpy. the pics are not top-quality. The big white specs on her bum are places where her feathers are SUPPOSED to be growing in. The buff orphington is my chicken who I'm a little suspicious that she has something. If you need pics of inside her feathers, please notify me via forum.
well, It FINALLY got warm and my chickens were dustbathing. so, we dusted Mithril with wood ash, and she started bathing in that, too. I heard of an organic spray that somebody used that I hear works AMAZINGLY! I'm going to have to try it. she's feeling frisky today, but I think that she should be getting better soon enough
ok, so now, she's molting. great. we're running out of wood ash and it's rainy outside. her mites are still pretty bad, we ccan't find any organic sprays, and our other chickens are being MEAN to her. how could it get worse?

Ummm......wow! Is it possible that you could order an organic spray on the internet? And then there is still the D.E. 100% organic and sold at most feed stores.
Yuck, well then that means she still has mites, what are your reasons for only using organic? I try to as well but if push comes to shove I will occasionally use non-organic. Just did a quick study and found that most of the time wood ash is used as a preventative not a cure. I really truly believe in D.E. and I just remembered Pyrethrin.A natural substance coming from a plant I think. You can get dusts that have that in them, also organic. And then there is Sevin dust, not even close to natural but kills the mites rather effectively! Good Luck, I hope she gets better soon!
