Sorry guys but My blue cochin was feeling jumpy. the pics are not top-quality. The big white specs on her bum are places where her feathers are SUPPOSED to be growing in. The buff orphington is my chicken who I'm a little suspicious that she has something. If you need pics of inside her feathers, please notify me via forum.
I will try the D.E. I'm running out of wood ash, also. She's growing new feathers in but is being ATTACKED by my silver wyendotte. she is MEAN to Mithril, MEAN! (horrified look) I just watched her attack mithril today, and it was TERRIBLE! I've never seen her so rabid before! :O I have some vixed vapor or however you pronounce it that I put on mithril, but it only works for 2-3 days. must... apply... salve...
Oh good, I really think that will help! Aww, poor mithril ( I LOVE that name btw!) I wonder why?... Huh, I didn't know that trick worked on chickens, so you just rub it on there noses..um, well, their beaks? Cool, learn sumpin new every day! AND that's great that she is growing her feathers back, that means that she must be getting a bit better!
well, I think the mites are almost gone, if not fully. feathers are all back, save a few on her feet. she's not quite laying yet, but she's never been that great of a layer. or they're just getting lazy. maybe kayan pepper time -again . and now my buff orphington, saffron, is molting. how about it!
the kayan (or however you spell it) pepper trick is used when chickens aren't laying or have gotten lazy. You sprinkle some kayan pepper into their feed or with their food, and the next day the chickens should be laying like mad! or, at least keeping up a steady laying pace. if it doesn't work, give 'em some more!
