Got my chicks June 7 2013, lost all but 2 to predators. I'm devastated. My rooster Bill was regimes to my neighbor for his well being. They had predators and covered their entire set up. He's safe and that is what counts
It's been a year. My peeps are no longer peeps. My rooster, Bill is a big boy. He's trying to show his authority over hubby and me. Well, he's finding out who's boss. He's really not mean though. But he's messing up the girls backs. Hopping chicken saddles will help. One girl got open wound and everyone started pecking at her - even she did to herself! Swiftly got the saddles and they seem to be helping so far.
I'm looking at the pics of my flock. All but 2 were taken by predators. They were friendly birds. My husband said I spoiled them. I've started a new flock. Got 5 little 2 week old girls. Going to provide roofed run. I will spoil this flock too.
