I got three 3 month old chicks in July, 2013. One turned out to be a roo and was returned to the farm, so now I have two, Mae and Bea. (named after my friends, Mason and Ben).
They are adorable, fun to watch, and so easy to care for. They let the dogs know they were not to be messed with right away, and they all get along fine (especially the chihuahua who LOVES them). They have a large secure coop and a fenced, covered yard. They seem very happy in their backyard in a somewhat urban neighborhood in Phoenix, AZ
The are mainly pets, but I am looking forward to eggs.
Thanks Backyard Chickens for all the info, I knew how to pamper them in the hot summer, and the cold weather we're having now.
