We've had our chickens since December 1st and we haven't had any problems with predators. The screening is hardware cloth and we also secure the doors with bungee cords at night in addition to the hardware closures that's on them. Sometimes on the weekend I set up the portable fence and we let them out to roam in the yard, but I'm always there to supervise and make sure nothing gets them. My hubby has seen evidence of raccoons on our property, but we haven't had any problems with them.
We have since lowered the roost in the coop part, and that seems to work better. But there is plenty of ventilation and the chickens like their home.
