No heat. They march up to bed around 4:30 and we close the little door. It has been getting down to 14 F in the hen house at night - humidity around 76%. I'm keeping a close eye on humidity.

I have since raised both the waterer and the feeder so that they don't get so dirty. I have a water heater going and so far, I haven't heard that this is a fire hazard. I'm keeping an eye on it and making sure it's sitting on bricks and is staying clean.

I was going to surround the entire coop with straw bales for some insulation, but at $5.50 a bale, it was too expensive. So just a part run got bales - one went into the run for fun.

Winterizing for first winter - ugly plastic wrap. The North side has plastic to the top. I left the other sides open for some air and light to pass through. I used vapor barrier.
