We bought a few chickens when winter broke from a friend who could no longer keep them. We purchased nine Hens and a Rooster for $50 with a coop, they were laying eggs in the crates on the way home, three White Leghorns, and the rest Rhode Island Reds. Our friend lost his rooster to a predator and his "Honey" entered our flock giving us a nice 10 bird flock. We jumped in feet first with no real experience, THANK YOU BACK YARD CHICKENS, we have learned so much from the site., Our first hatch just pipped tonight, our flock is slowly growing and we are all learning and having a blast. Here are some photos, I will keep posting pics as we grow!!
