I started with Golden Comets they are heavy layers. I lost two to animals before I covered the top. I also lost two, we think to panic. Before we attached the wire mesh a couple of the hens, we think, were startled and broke their necks in the fencing.The Comets were more pets than anything. The two original's left will get in my lap or squat down to be petted. I currently have Buff Orphingtons they are also heavy layers and docile.
