Isn't she cute? She never moved an inch while I was snapping away and I never got a great shot of her (cell phone camera, of course). She was adorable and her comb was so bright red against the dark of her feathers. She is a coco maran. Rolo, she was a rescue from someone who had to move.She had mites, and i think that is where the flock got them, her and her two flocklings.
This is my babies using the backyard along with the back back, See, the gate WAS the fence line, but the wind took half of it down. So, wire went up, and we decided (3 years ago) to move it back about 5 feet, to expand the backyard. (dog area). Then, I decided I needed a shed (Tuesday, I cannot wait) so in went the cement slab foundation with a step. more of the fence had to come down, so now I have hardware cloth fencing various parts of the yard so the dogs don't mingle with the birds. Today, the dogs are inside, and the birds have the run of the place. Here we see Mysery in the foreground (boy, no CLUE besides blue swedish...I have no white birds) with Bobross my crested mallard and baby, my cayuga/mallard mix. Clyde is way back there.
Nice gate, right? He built it. I have to prop it open when the geese are free ranging.
Ok, I am a slum lord. Those are aluminum panels he keeps wanting to get rid of, and i won't let him. It has saved the day many many times to have them hanging about.

This is the other half (I am holding up a lose gate I found to close off the gap) of the goose apartment. It is 6x 8 or 10 chain link run-of-the-mill dog pen.It had no blackberries and has GRASS! We had to first dig it out (it was overgrown) then move it back and rotate it. Thank goodness I have teen daughters to help.
This was made for a dog we had to put down, it is about 8x12. The kennel you see was used, and was to be hers for out here. We were moving her since she barked and barked and barked and my (country living) neighbor complained she barked "all day" so we were going to move her. She got a tumor and we put her down....it has been vacant for about 2 years. Don't ever get a jack russel unless you plan to run marathons daily with the dog on a leash.
