Few points ...
1. The dividers were raised, so as to prevent the keets from flying over where the new chicks are gonna be (it rotates, so that I can let 'em in when I'm there to monitor the interactions).
2. It's 18" or so, and one keet rounded the back of the brooder, looping back to the front in flight, curving up to land on top (just to rub in the fact that it still ain't high enough ~'-)
footnote, in regard to the lights ...
Only two, wired in series, which means it lowers the voltage at each bulb, and that if one burns out? The brooder goes black. By mixing bulbs, I can drop more voltage over the lower wattage bulb -- in this shot? A 250w on the right, which barely warms, and a 125w on the left, which is only partially dimmed. The reflector that hangs upon the bulb on the brooder floor increases the measured temperature by only a small amount, but still? It does.
