These are the Golden 300 duckies! I won't lie, I can't wait to see if their egg-laying reputation holds up, haha. Right now they are just the cutest little puff balls.
So the little fawn-and-white didn't last the night :( Not a great start to the day, but the seven remaining ducklings are up and very active! The Cayuga is surprisingly the smallest - the two runners are both a little bigger (and they are already standing up tall). The four goldens are huge and very healthy-looking. Crossing my fingers that we don't lose anyone else.
We have peepers!! This is their first day in their new home after a long trip in the mail. Sadly, they didn't arrive until Thursday (shipped on Monday), and two of the babies didn't make it :( One of our fawn and whites is worrying me, but I'm hoping she'll get her strength back soon. The four golden 300 girls are little dynamos, though! Still trying to come up with some good names...

Performing a test-run of the heat lamp to prepare for the delivery of our ten new ducklings! Bodie is disappointed that this wonderful mini-sun is not for kitties. So disappointed that she made sure I needed to clean the brooder again ._.;
-- Dru the Indian Runner and her three new friends -- We moved in to our current house only a few months ago at the time of this posting. The house came with a pond out back and four female ducks, and I immediately fell in love with them. One was a big Pekin they had named Cinderella, and three white and fawn runners (Drucilla, Gertrude, and Agnes) who were the "ugly stepsisters", though I thought they were every bit as pretty, and with such elegant posture! Sadly, Cindy and two of her three sisters disappeared from the pond one day, leaving poor Dru all by herself. We did some research, got a proper shelter put up for her, and then went on Craigslist to see if anyone had ducks for sale. After finding lots of drakes but no hens, I put up a wanted ad and let it sit. After two days, I got an email from a couple who wanted to rehome the their three Orpington Buffs, and the next morning Dru ecstatically welcomed her new friends to the pond with lots of quacking and shaking of tail feathers. We had been a little worried they might not get along, but they were all napping together in the shade of the apple tree before the noon had rolled around! We love our girls <3
