Getting a look around the new place.
Upstairs roost. This was not in the original coop, but we added it as soon as the girls got big enough. The roosts that came with the kit were too skinny. I like them to be able to cover up their toes in the winter time to keep them warm. A wider roost just seems like it would be more comfortable.
There is now a second nest box downstairs. It doesn't have a lid like the one upstairs, but the girls made a nest so it's a nest box.
New downstairs roost. This was a coop from the tractor supply and the area that we had enclosed would have originally been the "run" if you just used it as was straight out of the box and assembled. We have always had the coop on a raised cedar platform in a large covered run. There was no way 4 hens would have enough room in that original coop.

This is Phoebe, in front of the new roost ! Now the girls have a roost upstairs and one downstairs. No more fighting for a spot !
* This is sort of a sideways shot of the coop and run. In this one we had added ventilation to the top by raising the roof and adding vents. We still need more room though.
This was our original coop for our 4 girls. There was plenty of room for everyone, until everyone grew up and wanted their own spot on the roost. It also did not have proper ventilation. So we expanded !
