I think they like their new home. I let them out when I'm home and outside. They are very well behaved. The cats don't think so though. These 2 chase our 3 cats every chance they get. It's quite funny. They also chase stray cats out of the yard when they see them.

Our first egg! The first full day that we had them. Alice has been laying an egg a day since then. Peony just laid her first egg 3 months later.
The hens like to sleep in the next box. It is most likely because the roost inside this coop is about 4 inches off the floor. From what I've read on this website, the roost should be alot higher than that. It's been really cold at night this November, so they huddle in the nest box to keep warmer I'm sure.
This is the enclosure that I made by stapling1/2" hardware cloth on 3 sides. I buried 1/4" hardware cloth around the bottom about 10", then added small patio stones to make sure the chickens didn't dig too close to the buried screen. The front was framed by my handy spouse, and I actually made the door. The ceiling is just the 1" chicken wire to keep out the cats. So far it's been safe and sound. The small coop is ok for 3 seasons, but not insulated or warm enough for the very cold winter.
