I'm so proud...one my girl's first egg. I believe it was one of the Buff Orpingtons. The other day she was running around the yard squawking like a nut then would run back to the inside of the coup and squawk like crazy there. I went to check and see if she had layed the egg then, but hadn't. The funny thing is these chicks are only 4 3/4 months old. It's still a little early for them to be laying. Usually they lay between the ages of 5 and 6 months old. Soon I will start feeding them layer feed and calcium to keep them from depleting the calcium in their bones.
