Side doors for easy access to nest box and for cleaning. Blocked and insulated for the deep winter (-26 F) though. The vents are on both sides,one is uncovered, one the wood panel nailed up is an inch out from the opening for air movement.
Just like kids and cardboard boxes, my chickens spend their day in the rough pallet "fort" I built them for sheltered fresh air instead of their nice coop. :)
Polystyrene scraps insulated the ceiling, left wall, and floor. Laminate flooring scraps for walls/ceiling. Floor is covered with cheap stick tiles.
Run built around the coop is 12x24. The coop is 6x4 and 6 chickens live here. The small house in the corner is for my two juvenile chickens.
