The coop in it's final spot in the yard. Took 6 people to lift it over the fence. It's a sturdy thing. Darren rolled it over on it's side (on accident) before it even got loaded in the truck. No damage done. Well that's a good thing. So after circling and circling and circling around it, plans were drawn up. Additions needed to be made and definitely painting was in order. But it had good bones so all was good.
Work begins on the addition. Please don't check it for square or any other signs of perfection. The hubby and son worked hard to get it ready for chicks. And it is just as sturdy as the original coop. If one screw is good, four more ought to do it. God help us if we ever need to take it down....
The side opened up to make room for roosting. She's not pretty but she has good bones. And the chickens will love it. The girls (people ones) are already plotting the playhouse they want daddy to build. The honey do list never ends....
The inside was small. And tall. Sorta. The only was in was by lifting up what was the roof. Both side were hinged but very, very heavy. Not an ideal situation. And the roosting bar was straight down the middle. No nesting boxes and it would have only house 4 chickens max. Time to get out the sawzall.

Chicks! Not sure who is who but this was their first day home. I can't believe they were this little.
The coop comes home. This was a freebie from a co-worker of David's. They didn't want it. The original door for the chicken is barely visible. Both roof pieces were hinged and opened up. But they are HEAVY!
