These are pics of Colonel aka Romney, our Buff Orpington Rooster. I raised him from a chick, hatched in March 2012. We had to re-home him in Nov. 2012 because he and our Ameraucana Rooster didn't get along. I miss my gentle giant, he was so good with our girls, coaching them with their first eggs, and during free range time he would round up the hens that wandered away. He never pecked at me and let me pick him up all the time. :(
My daughter helping me build a new coop and run. We lost 3 chickens over a period of 6 weeks free ranging. We're building a safe place for them, no more free ranging, too many predators here.
Squeakers at 7 months, he was a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Rooster. Pic taken Jan. 2015, one month before being killed by a predator (fox) free ranging. Sadly missed, he was the best rooster, a real sweetheart.
This is one of my favorite girls. She's a Buff Orpington, and her name is Hen-Rietta. She likes chest rubs & to be hand fed, and follows me everywhere like a little puppy. :)
