They called this little one Wink. She is 8 weeks old in this photo day 2 at our house. I began treating her eye the first day here at home. Warm soaks and antibiotics. I also began feeding her (all my hens) a high protein diet. but for Wink she was fed in a separate crate where she could see her sisters, but she could eat at her own speed. At first she was unable to eat live mealworms. A couple days later she can now gobble them down just like the others. I would treat to mealworms after cleaning her eye so it would be associated with a reward.
2 weeks later just before coming out of 'quarantine' Wink has luster in her feathers and her eye has a light and healthy coat of feathers as well. No more naked eye. Unfortunately she has an eye lid that healed from an injury incorrectly. Half the lid healed down instead of across, so it will always be an issue. I have to keep an eye on her eye and treat when it gets oozy. She is the sweetest little girl and looks thicker, shinier, and copes better.... I believe because 'treats' were fed separately until she gained some strength and the gooey eye thing was treated.

8 weeks old..... We couldn't take just two healthy hens. The little one same age and half as big had a bad eye from an injury. They had been raised since day one together so at our home for misfit animals Wink fits in just fine.
10 weeks old....Healthier, happy but still timid. Heads up not down and feathers gaining luster.
10 weeks old this one we call Frenchie. She has beautiful full plumage now and a sparkle in her eyes. Can you see the difference from two weeks ago? All of our girls were brooded indoors and all 7 were under UVB vitamin D lamps and heat lamps or pads. The 3 newest pictured below STILL will sit in front of that UVB light versus the heat lamp every time.
