This is a 6 inch Cookie tin with a bulb and thermostat. Total cost $5.00 small heat lamp from Walmart, cooking $2.00, Electric Thermostat (lower) Lowes $8.00. Total cost $15 bucks beats the $40.00 heated waterer. Thermostat turns on light. If it gets too hot it will shut off as a fire prevention. As it cools down, It will turn back on.

A forty watt bulb was put inside and lid back on covering.
Here is a close up of thermostat connection. See the two ends of the black wire attached? I cut the hard plastic guard at the bottom by the white arrow indicator and turned it down further so the water does not get too hot!
I unscrewed the ceramic lamp parts off of the small heat lamp and unscrewed the green wire. Save the screw to use later. I cut a hole in the tin to fit the ceramic socket pieces which are screwed together until tightened against the side of the tin. The black wire is cut and they are attached to the two silver screws. (Then cover those with black electric tape-not Shown) The green wire is attached to the bottom of the thermostat and the top part is held down by the lid of the cookie tin. This will be placed under the waterer.
