We have chicken wire under the coop to keep out the varmints. We have about 4 in. of dry powder dung on top of the wire now that has accumulated for a year. Time to scoop and the poop and put on the garden.
We may insulate for next winter. We have a remote thermometer that tells us the temperature at their feel level. We can turn on three sets of lights or heat lamps. We have two reptile lamps, porcelain, and eventually these burn the feathers off of their back. We will change to regular light bulbs and keep two of the heat lamps that are no problem.

The coop is mobile if we remove the power source. It is build on solid 4x4" redwood posts with 1x5 stained slats underneath. Chicken-wire wraps around the bottom to keep out the varmints. The roof and 2x4s are not cut length wise. Standard plywood for the roof, uncut. The 4x4s are also non-cut length wise.
