This is "the artist formally known as Prince". He's 20 weeks old in this picture. I have not heard him crow yet, but my husband has heard him try. I was told today that he's got a hen that is now following him around. True love.. how sweet. Up until now he's been at the bottom of the pecking order (he's the youngest of the group)... perhaps the winds are a changing

My Amish coop.... this is where it all began. I saw this coop in a magazine and couldn't resist buying it, after I convinced my husband that we needed to raise chickens. We had started with 15 chickens.. we are currently up to 30 chickens, with 15 guinea hens being delivered this coming week, along with a hen that has gone broody on us and we are letting her sit on the eggs. It's going to be crazy around our farm for a while.
The top one is from a Silver Laced Wyandotte. The bottom one is either from a buff orpington, barred rock or my only true Rhode Island red.
