We started with nine chicks thinking that two probably would not make it. They all lived so we gave two hens to one of our neighbors.
Used 2x3s for rafters(ripped 2x6s in half).
Hatch door open for easy cleaning.
Nesting boxes from the inside. Chicken wire was installed on the inside of the windows above the nesting boxes in order to keep; the sashes open for ventilation. Used a 2x2 ripped in half on a 45 degree angle for a base board on the inside to make it a little easier to sweep out the old litter during cleanout.
One end has a full width hatch door for easy cleaning and the window sash is also hinged.
The nest boxes are oversized because I had the room. The roof is hinged 7/16" OSB with an aluminum skin for weather proofing and reflecting the sun.
