Wide shot of the chickens' run. They have a large space to range for just two hens, about 576 sq feet of grassy, bushy space. They are largely under a couple of apple trees (free apple treats come fall) and have a rhododendron bush they like to hang out under. The combination of the apple trees and the bush mean they aren't so much out in the open for hawks and eagles to spot.
Right now the mesh on the pen is flimsy garden store netting. I'll be changing that to stronger mesh they can't lift up and get out under in the next day or so.
I'd like to get some electrical fencing to not just keep them in but keep dogs and racoons out, but that would run $300+ with power unit, pretty high price tag for just 2 chickens.
