    Fox problems

I've never been able to catch a fox in my live trap, but caught quite a few skunks. CO works great on them. I think it's the least stressful. Haven't had any of them release any spray. The key is to get a good seal over the cage. I use a large black piece of plastic over the trap with boards...

    Black sex linked vs Australorp

I made 4 black sex link hens last spring from barred rocks and black jersey giants and 2 ended up with the red leakage on their necks, just like yours.

    Ages/Feed/Grit/Help!

Yes, TSC is Tractor Supply Co. in the US The gravel will be fine as long as there is small stuff in it. My last group of chicks I raised on sand. Now when I put a bowl of sand in there pen, they eat it like it was candy. When I put a bowl of sand in the other two pens, they just try to have a...

Sand will work for grit too, or a scoop of gravel off the edge of your driveway or a country road, just be sure it hasn't been sprayed with herbicide. The birds will pick through and take whatever size they want.

    My first incubating experience

There was zero when I went to work this morning, and just checked. 2 pips! Hope they don't hatch till tomorrow. I'm embarrassed to say it, but I'm not ready. My almost 5 week old chicks are still in the garage in the big brooder. It won't take long to put a cardboard box together though...

Raccoons-(serial killers) how have you resolved the problem?

One shot between the eyes, behingd the ear, top of the head or back of the head. You want the bullet to go through the brain. If you don't have a gun, or can't use one where you are, if using a live trap, sink it in a barrel of water, pond, ditch or put a box or tarp over it and run a hose into...

    My first incubating experience

We lost power for a little over an hour on Friday. Before that, I think, I had 16 out of 20 that I could see veins or movement. Just candled again, and took out 2. Only saw movement in about 6, but the others were dark, so maybe..... I think I'm going to put them in egg carton bottoms for...

    2nd atempt at incubating

We're going to candle tonight too. I last checked on Thursday and had at least 16 out of 20 that looked promising, then our power went out for a little over an hour on Friday. Temp went down to 95.1 so I hope that's not too much of drop. Lock down is tomorrow!!!

    Advice for purchasing incubator.

We got a 1588 genesis for our first incubator. It's styrofoam, holds 42 eggs with the auto turner or 50 if you want to turn by hand, has digital display that tells what the temp is set at, what the temp is and what the humidity is. You can also get a 12 volt battery hookup in case of power...

Raccoons-(serial killers) how have you resolved the problem?

I've found coon hand hold traps are most effective if you don't want to catch cats as well. They are small and affordable compared to large, live box traps. There are a few different brands. They bury part way in the ground. You can use marshmallows for bait. When the coon sticks his hand in to...
