    Are Silkie chickens rare?

    At my Agway its chick season. I was looking at pamphlets of different chicken breeds including silkie. They say the silkies are "rare." Are they really that rare? I say them at Rick's Saddle Shop, Agway, and Mypetchciken.com so, are they popular and more common to find?

    What should I name my chickens?

    :jumpy I have just bought new chicks today and I'm not sure what I'll name them. I have these chickens: 1 Unsexed Astralorp 2 Female Orpingtons 3 unsexed Silkies For the unsexed chcikens I would prefer unisex names.

    What gender? Polish and Frizzle Cochin.

    It depends on what you want. If you want crowing, slight aggressiveness and a chicken to watch over your flock a rooster is right for you. If you want lots of eggs and a gentle nature, or possibly a broody mother get hens and no roosters at all. Also roosters tend to fight smaller chickens.
