3 chicks: Hen or roo ?

I don’t know their exact hatch day but when we purchased #s 1,2 and 3 was May 3rd and the lady said they were roughly about 2-5 days old. So they should be roughly 7-8 weeks old. However, the moss egger #4 “she” was already 4 weeks old supposedly on May 3rd. She hasn’t grown much as the others...

3 chicks: Hen or roo ?

Not new, I just didn’t post “her” because I purchased her from a breeder she’s suppose to be a moss egger. But the lady guaranteed her to be a pullet but as she’s growing she looks more like a roo to me but what do I know 😅 thanks for the reply!

Updated pictures. Any look like roos? #2 has started acting very aggressive and #4 and #2 seem to fight a lot 😅 hoping no Roos. I hope the pictures are clear enough. They are sooo fast.

    Any Roos?

Hello, I purchased these chicks at my local feed store and all were guaranteed pullets. I don’t know their hatch day or how old they are. I’m estimating about 6 weeks maybe.. Do any look like possible Roos?

3 chicks: Hen or roo ?

I purchased these 3 babies from a local feed store and they are suppose to be 2 Easter Eggers and 1 red sex link. They did say it was a guarantee they would be all hens. However, I’m starting to get nervous lol #1 & #2 are becoming very aggressive towards me when I open the coop door are they...

    Chicks beaks breaking off??

***Update*** Spoke to the shop and YES the “breeder” or hatchery that supplies those layer chicks does file their beaks off to prevent a number of things. This totally makes me sad and probably wouldn’t have bought them had I known before purchasing them, at least we finally got answers. Thanks...

    Chicks beaks breaking off??

No hardware cloth besides the run in the coop. They are only in there for about 30min or less and supervised. They are in a xl storage bin and everything is plastic. What’s odd is that I purchased two other chicks from a breeder and there beaks are fine but these 3 that I got from the mom and...

    Chicks beaks breaking off??

No sharp feeders. I’m using a plastic one. You can see it in the background in the first pictures. I took it apart to check if there was any sharp edges with my fingers and felt nothing sharp. This is really strange. Hoping they grow back normal . They looked like someone filed both chicks beaks...

    Chicks beaks breaking off??

Omg! Of course I don’t have any clear pictures of their beaks but this is probably the best pictures I have the day we purchased them. However, I do remember these two chicks had dark tips on their beaks almost like they were bruised as you can see.. but I just thought that’s how they must’ve...

    Chicks beaks breaking off??

Hi, thanks for the reply. It’s a very small mom & pop feed store. When I purchased them they were only a few days old and their beaks were all normal and pointed. I have checked everything. Everything is plastic. I had them in a small bin but noticed they are starting to get crowded as they get...

    Chicks beaks breaking off??

Hi, new to chicks! We just started raising our chicks 3 weeks ago We purchased them from a local feed store and noticed two seem to have very short beaks and they weren’t like that before. Not sure what could be causing this or is this normal? I checked the feeder to see if that’s what’s...
