***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Help!!!!...so it finally dried up enough to burn some brush...I looked through the pile to make sure no chickens were inside (all of mine are white rocks so the white birds are easy to spot). Being sure all my chickens were safe I lit the pile. I was standing guard when I heard a tiny squeal...

That was my biggest concern. It's hotter than I care to hold on to for very long, but I didn't think it was hot enough to burn anything. So, I put it to a test after reading your post. I put some shavings on top of it and monitored it for about 30 minutes. The shavings didn't even change color...

[/IMG][/IMG][/IMG] I had to clip a little off the end of the hooks on the plate hanger so I could hook them on the eye bolts that I screwed into the wall. The light underneath is a round porcelain light fixture and has a 100 watt bulb.

Hey, my chickens had been stayin on the roost pole outside all night even in the cold that we've had recently. I thought it might have been because of the light produced by the 100 watt bulb I had for heat in their shelter. The shelter is pretty small so it doesnt take much to keep it...

Nigerian dwarf goat vs Pygmy goats

I am researching goat breeds right now too. I was leaning toward the nigerian dwarfs at first, but now am pretty set on mini alpines, they are a alpine/nigerian dwarf cross. Slightly bigger than a ND but easier to handle than an alpine. The butterfat content is supposed to be higher than that...

Long enough to sour...not sure exactly. It was a new bag in a barrel I use for storage so I don't open it often. Lid got left open and filled with rainwater. Like I said, I saw where people were talking about fermenting feed intentionally to feed their chickens.

Hey all! Sorry it's been a while since I've participated in conversation. I have been reading along most every day. I've seen people talking about fermented feed...on that line, I had a lot of water get into a feed barrel an I didn't notice it for a bit. The scratch inside has soured. Is it...

Hey Bartsrock. Panama is a pretty small place. I've lived there most of my life. Except when dad was on active duty and when I was on active duty. Welcome

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I did a lot of research before I started the build. I use my lawn mower to move it. In a pinch I get inside and lift it to move it. I didn't fence the bottom because of a couple of reasons...1) no real predator problem 2)I didn't want to get chickens legs...

Hey, just thought I would introduce myself. I am from eastern Oklahoma, Panama, for those of you familiar with the area. I have six white rocks in my custom(read as "redneck engineered) chicken tractor. They are producing 4-6 eggs a day for me. Just got the fencing up to allow them access to the...
