I did just start using pine chips in the baby's house, from hay. Also the mother hen was a runaway who we just found with 6 babies, him being one. I'm not sure of the exact age but they seem just shy of our oldest babies who are 9 weeks old.
I have a baby chick who recently started scratching so much that the side of its face has no feathers and it's eye is swollen shut. Also missing feathers all over the rest him from scratching so much. There's no lice or mites but it's being treated for that anyways. He seems fine otherwise...
