  • I have 3 male ducks and one female. One of my male ducks got his foot injured and is hobbling around on it. I have washed his foot and treated it and tried separating him from the flock, but he goes nuts. He is the youngest of the group and I understand they like to show off for the female, but he is taking a beating. I am looking to get some more females but have not had luck yet. What should I do in the meantime?

When can I introduce the injured drake back into the group after he has healed up? The other drakes seem to go after him every time so not sure if it's for show or just pure meanness.

Even if it's "just for show", the end result of two ganging up on one is that he's going to get hurt again. 😔 drakes have a lot of hormones and can use their energy inappropriately towards other males or females.
it may not work to reincorporate them all back together. Have you considered either rehoming the bullies or maybe the one who's getting picked on?
And have you had any luck picking up some females?

Thank you Isadora, I will take your advice and keep them apart. I am looking to rehome the bullies, the one picked on was from my brother for my Birthday so he is a definite keeper. I recently lost my female duck, I beleive a racoon or stray cat got her. I was not home at the time it happend but guessing it must have been late evening. No I have not had any luck with finding other females but will keep looking.
