    I made my first chicken house 18” off the ground so that the girls would have an outdoor space even in the worst winter conditions. It works for me. I use 1/2” SS wire as the floor with a pull up ramp. I placed a sm sheet of insulation around the ramp. The ave temp in winter was 55o...they were comfy and safe. Did you get a reason why he felt that way?

    That was one of my reasons in lifting it off the floor so I can also put the food and water under and so it's a shady area for the girls even though the run is going to have a roof on it,
    I think it was for more aesthetic reasons Mrs Jambo thought it was too high but she is fine with the height now as I explained my thinking for having it off the floor so when the rain stops I can try and crack on with it 👍
