I figured I would update on why I have been off for so long. I had a family emergency that required me to fly last minute across the country. While I was gone the coop door flew open due to extreme high winds and the person watching my ducks did not find it until it was too late. My Hookbill stock was wiped out with only a pair surviving. I may get back into breeding them again, but for now I have retired my pair.
Setting shipped eggs soon! Eggs are acclimating and the new incubator running to make sure that it’s at temp. Also getting my hygrometer and thermometer calibrated. I am not dry hatching this year like I did last as it is nose bleed dry in my house. Eggs will be weighed in the morning before being set and then I will adjust humidity accordingly. Let the games begin!
I have procured Hookbill eggs from 2 different breeders (NPIP, AI clean). I am excited to add some newer blood to my program! They should be arriving end of March which means March/beginning April I will be setting 3 different batches. 1 from each breeder and 1 from my own. Prepare to be spammed this spring with Hookbill duckling pictures!
