Shiny new coop, ground cover suggestion?

Thank you for sharing! I went with a natural mulch, much like what you have. I am happy with my choice so far!

Shiny new coop, ground cover suggestion?

We live in Georgia so freezing isnt a huge issue for us but I like the wood mulch idea. Seems like it would be easier to supply material. And I'm reading it helps the poop break down easier, I'm good with wood if that's the case!

Shiny new coop, ground cover suggestion?

Yes, there are vents on the opposite wall, you just can't see them well from the pictures and we have two windows. We have not had any issue with tin and condensation, my old coop is also under a tin roof. They have the roosting ladder, these are my babies, they aren't laying yet so they don't...

Shiny new coop, ground cover suggestion?

Thank you so much. My old one has served me well, but is on its LAST leg, so I wanted something that would serve us well over the years to come! ☺️

Shiny new coop, ground cover suggestion?

Hi! I haven’t posted in a while, I’ve had chickens for about 17 years and was down to just my two old ladies and then the chicken distribution fairy decided it was my turn… so now I’m taking my chicken love next level so I can really spend time with them and raise more babies. My husband &...

    Grown rooster ID

Ohhhh my heart! What a good boy he was!! I’m so sorry you lost him like thag. He defintely resembles Curly. This fella…( whom I’ve started calling Jiggy because he’s a male gigolo around here 😆🤦🏻‍♀️) keeps the most watchful eye over my girls. He has saved them from a swooping hawk and the other...

    Grown rooster ID

Thank you! Any idea which breeds?😆 He looks “barred rock” on his chest but I can’t figure out his top half. Neighbor has about 30+ chickens but she bought them all at feeds stores I believe. Tons of whites that look like Delawares and various Reds. I’ve never had a white chicken in 15 years. I’m...

    Grown rooster ID

So this guy came to my house looking for a better life than he had at the neighbors (literally refused to leave). I’m not a fan of Roos but he is very docile. Can anyone tell me WHAT breed he is?? I have googled until my eyes crossed and just can’t seem to find more than pics… no names. I wanna...

Need Advice from the experienced hatchers!

Hello! Looking for advice/opinions… (a little backstory,) I have had chickens for about 15 years now… I have bought and raised plenty of chicks…My hens have never been broody, which was fine and I have kept few roosters over the years. I have never kept roosters because the ones I’ve had have...

PLEASE HELP!! Pics of Duck eggs. Hatch is close.

THANK YOU!! Going to sit down and check those out shortly. I know Eddie (my drake) probably wishes the babies would hurry up. He's kind of pitiful wandering around by himself. You can tell he's bored but afraid to get to far away from Ethel!!

PLEASE HELP!! Pics of Duck eggs. Hatch is close.

Thank you. I have actuall Thank you. I wondered but I actually saw slight shadowy movement so I feel better. The only reason I have candled so much was because I was worried after all the rain and her nest getting so damp from the rain blowing in and then I didn't see movement but they...

PLEASE HELP!! Pics of Duck eggs. Hatch is close.

Well, I apologize but it did upset me, I was just trying to ask for some help and everyone seemed to be telling me I was hurting my eggs which I don't see how because people who incubate candle their eggs. I am always careful to place them as they were in the nest as I figure Ethel knows best...

PLEASE HELP!! Pics of Duck eggs. Hatch is close.

No they don't smell. No they did not get submerged in water. The reason I am checking them is because 1) she started this broody business back on April 13 when she first started laying. I have been concerned for HER health as she has been steadily setting since April 28. She had 22 eggs at one...

PLEASE HELP!! Pics of Duck eggs. Hatch is close.

Please see pictures. First two are egg 6 and last one is egg 1. I am pretty much desperate at this point. I tried posting to the incubating forum but I'm not getting any replies and I really could use some help. My Pekin is setting 4 eggs. This is her first time and these are all the viable...
