    Thank you for the suggestion. I asked another member this question: Should the cage be kept within the hens’ enclosure? (There is plenty of room) or should she be separated from them. Also, should it have a nesting area and roost? Appreciate your help!

    Hi. No we don’t free range them, but they have a large enclosure, 24’ by 24’, plenty of room for the 6 of them.

    My hens were doing the same thing last summer. A friend suggested I add electrolytes to their water to prevent heat exhaustion which I did immediately. Helped a lot!
