Last chance to visit my estranged childhood home after father’s passing...conflicted

Thank you, I’m sorry you’re going through a similar situation. I’ve decided to go and visit the house one last time. I’ve been told there are some family belongings there- photos, videotapes, etc. that will be junked if not claimed. So at least that’s one good reason to face my emotions and get...

Last chance to visit my estranged childhood home after father’s passing...conflicted

Hi all, A little over a year ago my father passed away due to health complications. We’d been estranged for several years because he had borderline personality disorder and was verbally/sometimes physically abusive to my siblings, mom and I growing up. When my mom left him, I broke off contact...

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

I think I’m going to give the Tylan a try. Thank you!

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

Yeah I know, we were lucky to have no illnesses over the last (almost a) year we’ve had them. Thank you

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

Update: she seems to be doing better! This is day 10 of spraying the Oxine 2x/day (once in the morning, once at night). Her breathing seems to be getting easier, still sneezing occasionally but not nearly as congested as before. It looks like we’re on the road to recovery! Thank you again...

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

The nutri-drench really seems to help make her less lethargic. She still won’t eat her normal pellets but she’s eating cracked corn at least. Her poop looks normal. When she does poop it seems to be a smaller amount than usual- but I’m assuming that’s because of her bouts of lethargy/lack of...

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

Update: she ate a little cracked corn before bed tonight, which is a good sign...she’s sleeping with her head tucked in her back, labored breathing seems to be on and off rather than constant (she’ll go through episodes it seems). Poor girl. :( Hoping she holds on until medicine arrives.

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

After reading that article you attached, that sounds like exactly what’s going on. I can hear the crackling when she breathes. I just ordered the Oxine and paid extra for 2-day shipping. It’ll be here by Thursday. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to help her breathing? I’m really...

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

Thank you!! I will look into this. She’s getting worse I think...more lethargic today. :/ Not really interested in food, even when I made a hot mash (all-flock pellets, cracked corn, dried cranberries, a little minced garlic, splash of ACV, and some milled flax seed all in one bowl; pour hot...

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

Yeah I’m worried that the place she came from gave her some illness that’s now starting to rear its head. Her previous owners neglected her and two other hens we have (who we adopted with her but show no symptoms) by failing to feed them regularly, no access to water, etc...from what I saw their...

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

@annaBsChick I gave the symptom checker a try but for some reason it yielded no results. Not sure if it’s a glitch or what, or if it’s not compatible with iPhone web browsing.

Respiratory infection? Or something else? Getting worse...help!

Hey everyone, I have an older Easter egger hen (she’s at least 5 years old, we adopted her from a neglectful home about a year ago) who started showing some “cold symptoms” about a week and a half ago- sneezing, wheezing, throat/nasal congestion...no visible signs of mucus in the eyes, nose or...

Pale comb on older (broody) hen

That’s good to hear that it’s likely due to the broodiness! I’ll hold off on treating for worms. She really is pretty! I love splash Cochins. :) Thank you!

    Adorable Co Parenting Hens

I have 3 hens who also went broody at the same time! I ordered 6 Silkie hatching eggs, put hem under at the same time, only 3 developed so the 3 good ones were split evenly among the broody hens- so each hen got one egg. All three eggs hatched so each hen had her own chick, but they're all...
