    Have any of you guys had to deal with marek's desiese?

    We are very close to ours and spend time every day. I was beating mysleft up as a crappy owner until I discovered where it came from. Now I have to manage it. It a herpy virus with no known cure. God speed.

    It's not been fun... Lost 6 so far. Leg paralysis, Runny butts, underdevelopment, Dropped wing and neck paralysis. Most say, eggs and meat are ok, but insides most of the time have large tumors. Don't affect my EE's , and don't affect my Asian blues. they may be a carrier but don't show signs...

    I'm good with them either way. It's cool they look like the Americana breed but the black double laced changed them totally. They are really strong and healthy. Thanks for all that responded. thats way I love this place. Much needed.

    My barnie hen does lay brown eggs. This girls mom lays blue to blue/green eggs. I Guesss we will just have to wait.

    Crossed an Double laced Black Barneveld with my lavender Americana. Both pure and no cross. What's the chance we finally get a green egg?

    Sexing this EE 4.5-5month old

    I've had that happen also but this last cockerel was more was more inclined to crow when the older rooster pushed his buttons. when removed..it took him 6 weeks to start crowing again.

    if you can remember back also another indicator is cockerels combs get red much quicker than a pullet. around 12 to 15 weeks in a young cockerel and 16 to 19 weeks for a pullet in that breed.
