- 4 months ago I adopted 8 orphaned one day old chicks.( Ive never had chickens or kids) when my neighbor sort of abandoned them with me and abruptly moved out of state. I had to choose between becoming a mama hen or letting 8 little helpless puffs of joy die or sit in a feed store. I have to say im exhausted, broke, my clothes and shoes are ruined and my motorcycle part business has suffered quite a bit, but I wouldn't change my decision if I could. I love my babies
