My dark Brahma is really just starting to crow a little (he's NOT dominate at all) and he's 8 months old. Compared to my black Australorps (which aren't the smallest guys either), he was much slower to grow and mature.
I would also say cockerel.
Hey fellow chicken peeps! I bought five little chipmunk-like chicks that even TS was confused by....tried to get which hatchery but they would never call me back. They are about 6 weeks old now and NOT a banty-size, so could some of you more experienced chicken aficionados please help me...
Our first little egg at 17 weeks! That's a lot earlier than I expected, LOL. I just installed the nest box last weekend and they haven't totally accepted it in the coop yet. So the egg was, of course, on the floor of the coop. Oh well....I'm happy!
Thanks! It was part of a walkway attached to our house when we bought it (there was an older lady who lived here before). We removed it to build a bigger deck last summer and my husband turned it into a brooder with the addition of some linoleum on the deck boards. Works great and fit...
(32) 3 week old Cornish Crosses going out on grass today! Wanted to share the pics with you all!
My brooder set up (they've been off heat for about 5 days - "hardening off")....clueless that their lives are about to change!
At 3 weeks old, feathering nicely and getting big...
Ronp, I should have asked....is your run covered? I'm debating covering mine for the snow in winter....there are a lot of days the girls could get out as far as temps but the snow sure does stick around here for a while.
Here's was their coop/part of run after our last big snow storm this...
That has definitely been an advantage of have 26 Australorp chicks all at once, lol. Easy to compare them to each other...my fingers are crossed for you too!
