How long will she sit for after they hatch?
So my mix batch of 6 out of 11 eggs (4 silkie bantam eggs and 2 ISA cross) started hatching last night and hatched sometime today. 3 out of 6 have hatched, both ISA Xs and 1 silkie. I did a quick gentle candle of 2 out of 3 of the unhatched silkie eggs and both were still alive. Just 2...- _ADM_

Just wondering what breed these 2 are?

Just wondering what breed these 2 are?
So I have 7 chicks finally after a semi-successful hatch and I am just wondering what these 2 are. Check them on day 22, so it doesnt disturb them to much. Hope they hatch :)- _ADM_

Whatever you do do not help the other chick if its taking a bit longer to hatch. After the first internal pip it can take up to 24 hours for them to externally pip and that can also take up to another 24 hours. You can check under then hen really quickly to check but dont pick up or turn the...- _ADM_

You could probably do a ramp but it most likely would have to be covered or netted over the top and sides otherwise your gonna need some pillows or soft thick material under it so if they fall it would soften impact. The first choice is better but 2nd as a back up- _ADM_

As long as the ramp isnt to steep and has some grip for the chicks to get up they should be alright. Imo I would lock her in the nesting box till they hatch and as long as she has food and water she will be alright like that for a day or 2. Yes, it can be very stressful. I have had the same thing happen before. Make sure the temp and humidity are stable and just wait. The one that has externally piped should hatch and the one with a safty hole might be delayed. If it still hasnt made any progress after 48 hours you can assist it...- _ADM_
