Hen with weak legs and trouble standing up during implant induced moult

Thankyou for your reply. She's still with us and still not eating much. Good news- the implant has so far stopped all lash eggs, soft shell eggs, egg membranes etc. Also reduced minor swelling. Vet just diagnosed laying issues without much investigation as to why. She's now definitley moulting...

Laying 2 soft shelled eggs at once

Yes this is her. Had no egg issues at all since implant. Just the moulding issues described in the other post.

Hen with weak legs and trouble standing up during implant induced moult

I got her to eat about 3 tablespoons of tinned fish today (good idea! she doesn't normally get treats like that so she seemed happy) and about a handfull of her pellets throughout the day!!! More than she's ate all week. The vet gave me this product https://emeraid.com/vet/emeraid-omnivore/...

Hen with weak legs and trouble standing up during implant induced moult

I took her to the vet today and the vet checked her poo for parasites (none) and gave me some rehydration salts type thing to give to her for a few days. Couldn't see any sign of injury. Didn't have any ideas about about her leg weakness so a bit of a wasted trip :(

Hen with weak legs and trouble standing up during implant induced moult

My 5 year old light sussex hen was put on an implant 2 weeks ago to prevent egg laying. As i expected she may be moulting with a decreasing appetite, grumpyness and feathers in the run over the last 5 days. But today she has been walking on her hocks!!! If i help her to stand she can then walk...

Laying 2 soft shelled eggs at once

The tiny egg was only egg white inside - maybe a little thick textured, i smashed it when removing and couldn't find any yellow but may have missed it as the whole egg was only Cadbury mini egg sized. The shell texture was thick and bumpy. Inside the soft shell one was a perfectly normal...

Laying 2 soft shelled eggs at once

Hi, I have a 4 year old light sussex (Shakshuka) who is definitley laying 2 soft shelled eggs at a time (I've seen her in action! Otherwise I'd assume impossible). She stopped laying over winter this year for the first time, then starting in February is laying about once a fortnight - always 2...

lonely pullet too attached to me

Just to update you all on the progress Thanks everyone for the advice - i think you're right that i was being over cautious. I switched her sleeping arrangements so she was in a wired off section of the main coop then after a few nights of that removed the wires. They now get on well over night...

lonely pullet too attached to me

I have a 16 week speckled sussex pullet called Edwina who seems to think i'm her Mam. I'm worried she's stressed and lonley. She was in with 2 sisters until they both died suddenly at about 12 weeks. She's still too small to introduce her to my two older girls, so sadly she is alone at night in...
