Can I put chicks under a broody that already has a chick?

You can try. When you say the other chick is a lot bigger do you mean older or bigger as bantams vs standard chicks? If the bigger means older you have very little chance of success. The hens bond within hours of birth and try me they can count. I am always amazed with my hens (I let the...

Coop open caged part floor suggestions???

I use peat moss. The kind you buy in bales at the big box store. The really nice thing about peat moss is that it composts the waste. I then take the peat and work into my garden. Since the material is already composted it works great. Also, there are a lot of health benefits that have been...

    past due turkey eggs

If you tap the egg do you hear scratching or peeping? If it was me and they didn't hatch by tomorrow. I would open one and see. It may mean loosing one of you have the date wrong or it may save your hen's life getting off the eggs.

ASAP!! HELP!! My Duck is injured!!

I would suggest cleaning with hydrogen peroxide and putting Neosporin on it. No bandage until you put pet wrap around the wound. Any gauze etc would just get wet and allow bacteria to grow. The gel of the Neosporin will help seal the wound and protect from water and possible burning from the...

I have never heard of putting sugar in water. My ducklings get medicated chick feed. Vitamins Poly-Vi-Sol (infant vitamins) in their water. I have seen ducklings die before for lack of calcium and vitamins. This lady's ducklings couldn't stand up and appeared to malnourished. I would...

My first Fox attack that ended in a kill

For those of you looking for urine check out the sporting good store. I remember from my uncles trapping days, they put urine and scents on the traps to draw the desired animals. You might be able to search online for it.
