    Nutrition-Alfalfa?

    The bright orange yolk is most likely caused by the alfalfa, its because alfalfa is a natural source of pigment causing the deep orange colour yolks :)

    Hi, I am currently writing a research report about the different feed supplements given to hens to produce better egg quality. Does anybody on here feed their hens alfalfa? If so do you find their eggs produce a deep orange colour yolk?

    Thanks for replying! Yeah I did think Plymouth Rock, the farm I got her from have barred rocks and some brown breeds to, so could be a mix then
