Well we lost one one of our girls yesterday. While everyone else seemed to feel better she just sat around Sunday. Then yesterday morning I just had a feeling and told my husband to be prepared to find her gone when he got home. He did.
So everyone else seems to be feeling better. They are...
I have really thought about the sand for awhile now but wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Then it was so muddy I got the stall pellets to soak up the water. They work great but now they're staying wet.
A tarp will have to do it for now. The run has a predator proof top on it already that's...
Forgot to add a picture. This is a temporary set up until we can build something larger and more permanent.
We plan to fence an area soon so we can turn them out in the evenings.
It's one of those 8x8 runs from tractor supply with a pop up cover on the top and it's up against our house and porch on 2 sides. Replacing the pop up cover with a sturdier tarp this weekend. The side that faces out, rain just blows in, it's so much with nonstop rain the last few weeks.
We're...
Well they were all lined up ready to come out this morning and crops were almost empty. Half of them took a few bites of scrambled eggs. They haven't really eaten since Monday afternoon so I wanted to get something in them.
Cleaning out the run this weekend. Is there anything that would help...
Ok thank you all. I'll get some more today. Didn't go far treating 8.
They were walking around a little when I got home yesterday and made some noise when they saw me. It was harder to give everyone meds. Bill was difficult to catch and hold. So he's definitely feeling a little better. I'll...
How many days of miconazole? I started them on it last night and gave this morning. My husband says they seem to be mostly normaly this afternoon. So I can't wait to get home and see how they are.
Cleaning out the run is my plans for Saturday. I've scooped what I could so far and tried to move some around so it would dry.
Will start miconazole tonight. I believe they definitely have some sour crop going on. I smelled a bit of a sour smell from one last night and crops were still full of...
I will check the poo like that when I get home today. Glad to hear it's probably not the pellets. I am leaning towards coccidiosis and wondering about possible sour crop with it.
I've been giving Corid in their water for the past 2 days and last night gave an oral drench per the instructions in...
The color of his comb is not coming through good in the pictures. It's very dark red and then purplish in places.
Then one of the girls' faces is very pale.
One poo from yesterday and one from today.
I just added them to the muddy half of the run Friday night. They were the only kind tractor supply had. The girls inside are on them too with no issues. I scooped what was dirty out but may scoop the rest out and start over tomorrow.
I don't see any mold or anything growing in the run or coop...
Thank you. I thought it was odd that it's hit them all at once and I know it has to be something in their environment for the ones inside to not be acting the same.
If they aren't any better or they get worse we will take one to the vet to see if she can help.
Yes, we have one local that will see chickens, but by the time I get home they are closed. I might could have my husband take one tomorrow when he gets off work. We had already discussed if they weren't any better this evening I want to take our Rooster, Bill, to the vet and see if she can help...
Thank you. So far those are the two I've thought myself. I started corid yesterday and gave probiotics this morning. I will stick with the corid and look for mecanizole.
I have been keeping the food dry and changing it out daily. I have been watching for any kind of mold in their run.
