    Sometimes you just gotta make do, too. about 10 years ago, I left my foamy Hova-bator out on top of the chest freezer to dry out after a hatch, and my free-rangers snuck in and pecked off a goodly chunk of foam off one side of the base portion.     5 new peepers!

    My first batch of mostly clunkers.. 20 eggs set, 5 hatched. ( my usual ratio is about 2 clunkers to 20 incubated) Babies are vital and cheeping madly behind me in their brooder box. I am wondering if my 15 year old flock is getting a wee too interbred at this point?

    Anyone else w "designer eggs" (aka mutts) in the bator? What kind?

    I have 19 mutts in the bator at day 19, with one peeper! wyandotte, ameraucana, japanese bobtail,Jungle fowl, cochin, polish crested, leghorn, and many more were the original basis for these mutts... third or fourth generation mixes, eggs all brown, blue or green . I call my flock "Dunslavins"...
