Original flock still not taking to new additions

Hello there- We have 5 cinnamon queens. They are a little over a year old. We recently added partridge rocks/bard rocks to the flock. They have been in the same run as the original girls, but confined to our old coop so they aren’t roaming around with the original girls in the run. It’s been a...

    Too cold?

Not sure why but photos aren’t uploading. Anyways- we cut some long vents up the top and cut out a doggie door and put some curtains for the draft to stay out. Woke up to no frost! Not as chilly last night but still a win!

    Too cold?

What do you mean not expect a difference? Meaning it’ll still frost?

    Too cold?

The girls in the shed had some So we had frost again in the coop and the girls had some On their feathers. And two girls I think have a touch of frostbite and I feel awful. We are getting vents at Home Depot today to add to the coop. We were so concerned about insulation, we weren’t even really...

    Too cold?

I believe a local feed place. It’s a brand, it wasn’t bagged there. I think we already tossed the bags. Should they be ok tonight though? How would we add ventilation? Are there vents we can purchase? This is all new. Our other coop has ventilation on two sides as well, but it’s a much...

I’ll also take some pictures in the morning. It’s pretty similar to this- it’s I think 5feet by 6 feet and maybe 7 feet tall, I can walk in no problem.

Thanks! I made a profile quick and clearly never updated it! The shaved pine is in a big old clear bag. We are located in MA!

    Too cold?

Thanks for the words of wisdom! I’m confident they will be ok! This is our first winter with them so we just want to make sure they are ok! I’ve heard so many different things, from using heaters to not using them to this temp that temp. It’s a lot! Hope your ducks stay warm too!

    Too cold?

So it’s new to them. Fresh pine shavings-which may still have some moisture from being brand new, there’s no waterer in there at this time, not a lot of poop since they just moved in on Saturday. The door was open all day Saturday and it rained so the pine might just be moist from that too. We...

    Too cold?

Thanks!! This morning there was frost on the ceiling? Not sure if it was because condensation built up? It rained a few days ago and not sure if they are creating it with their breathing as well. It’s a shed that you can walk right into and there are vents at the ceiling front and back

    Too cold?

Hello- We have a few new additions to our flock- some Partridge Rock and Bard Rocks. Some are young-a couple months old. They are in our old, smaller coop until our original girls have acclimated to them. They are still in the same run, but different coops and separate for the time being...
