    Connecticut!

I would also love to be feeding more whole foods rather than crumbles. I have searched on here a little and it is possible but very confusing. I don't know enough about ratios and got overwhelmed. I would love to hear how others are doing it?

    Connecticut!

I am in Newtown and it seems like everyone here has chickens. House prices here have dropped drastically so you might be able to find something. Also most lots here are 2 or more acres.

Tom, I got my Easter Eggers from Benedicts Home and Garden in Monroe. You might want to contact them.

Jen- I would love to see your setup too. I am very interested in hearing how much landscaping is needed to actually protects the flock. I have this barren space that I am debating whether to landscape or fence in. Maybe we could head over to Ridgefield together one day. There really needs to...

Hey Jen- how many animals do you have and what is your chicken setup? I am still trying to figure out my run right now and I am fascinated by all of the different coop/ run setups. What breeds do you have? I would really like to have a few more.

How do I turn this space into a wonderful run?

I have visited a few chicken setups at some farms nearby and they were not very secure at all and the farmers were not too worried. One of them that I talked to said that they only worry about hawks during the day and that is really only in winter. Both of the farms had more narrow runs then...

How do I turn this space into a wonderful run?

Lilchick- I love the idea of fruit trees to cover the area. I can get 5 ft fruit trees right now but will they protect the chicks this summer since they are still small trees? Will a hawk land in the tree and then take a chicken? Do the trees need to cover the area completely? Is there a fruit...

How do I turn this space into a wonderful run?

What about rain? I have heard that a lot of people like a solid roof to cut down on smell. Would I not need to worry about that bc it is such a big space and I dont have many chickens?

How do I turn this space into a wonderful run?

Thank you for all of that information! So I don't need to worry about raccoons climbing over the top? Also I was just reading another post and it occurred to me that the chickens will be locked up at night. Do I not really need to worry too much about predators other than birds during the day?

How do I turn this space into a wonderful run?

Hello all- I am a new chick owner and I am already obsessed! I picked up 6 Easter Eggers last week and I want to get a few Barred Rocks and RIR's. So here are my questions.... If I were to get the BR and RIR's on 4-19 will there be a problem introducing the two little groups? I also would...

    Hi from CT

With a heavy duty net are you worried about raccoons or possums? Won't they climb the wire and get in?
